The Tryon Road Realignment Petition has passed the 300 milestone and while we aren’t picking up names at the same pace we did at the beginning of last week we are still moving forward. Thank you to everyone who signed and shared this petition. I saw it in a lot of Facebook statuses and it we have definitely seen the response. The drive isn’t over – we’ll be collecting names until we see the City and the State break ground on the new road so feel free to keep sharing this important petition.
We plan to share our vision for a better Southwest Raleigh with improved transportation every where we can and while we are lining up the best places to spread the word here is a monthly opportunity for anyone that can attend.
CAMPO or the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is a collaborative project between Cary, Raleigh, Garner, and Wake County. The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is comprised of three parts: a Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC), a Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC), and a staff that serves the members of these boards. At the beginning of each TAC meeting is an opportunity for public comment. We would like to take advantage of this platform to speak about the importance of this road and why CAMPO should make it a priority.
The next TAC meeting is tomorrow at 4PM in suite 800 of the Professional Building 127 W. Hargett Street downtown.
If you are able to attend please look for Mo Johnson the Advisory Committee/Local Government Committee representative who will speak on our behalf. If time permits feel free to add a “plus one” by saying you agree that the Tryon Road realignment should become a higher priority.
We believe that the widening of Tryon Road, addition of sidewalks, the realignment through Renaissance Park and the subsequent replacement of Bridge 259 will have an overwhelming positive impact on Renaissance Park, Southwest Raleigh, Garner and Cary. To that end we have started a petition to share with public officials our desire for this project to be given priority. We encourage you to add your name and email address to the list and encourage others that you know both in the neighborhood and in the larger community to sign up as well.
Signing requires a valid email address and an interest in seeing Tryon Road realigned. It does not require living in the neighborhood so feel free to ask anyone to join us is making Tryon Road a priority.
